Course Overview

This one-day British Canoeing Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course (PSRC) course is the replacement for the FSRT course and gives a comprehensive look at rescue strategies for canoes, kayaks, and SUPs on flat water. It is a prerequisite for the Paddle Sport Instructor course, and we recommend it for any paddler looking to develop their rescue skills. From shouting, reaching and throwing rescues, to emptying canoes and kayaks, towing boats, rescuing swimmers, and helping incapacitated paddles, this course will set you up with multiple options to carry out common rescues on flat water.

We have a huge amount of experience operating across paddlesport disciplines and have loads of tips and tricks to share with you to both avoid the need for rescue, and make it easy when you need to. We are firm believers that if a rescue or boat empty is hard work, then there is an easier way to do it and we will work with you to ensure you have the solutions and techniques that work best for you.

Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Participants aged under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can watch from the bank.

Course Prerequisites

For boat based candidates you should be able to comfortably manoeuvre your choice of craft around other paddlers and swimmers.
